This exhibition seeks to explore the Chinese word cou huo whose meaning is “based on themes of temporality and awkwardness” according the organizers of the show. It also tries to recreate the essence of ‘cou huo’ through objects placed in a temporary space, that is itself a product of cou huo. 12 participants from the USA, China, Switzerland, Scotland, Chile and Austria will participate. These artists clearly see a link between the transient implications of the Chinese word and the continuous changes that help to define modern China. Therefore, the exhibition touches upon subjects such as China’s rapid urban growth, innovation and commercialization and ultimately development more generally.
