Dalian Transport - Bus

The predominant mode of public transport in Dalian is the public bus, with most services running at regular intervals from early in the morning to late in the evening. Buses on major routes are particularly crowded during rush hours. Buses in Dalian cost RMB1 for a one-way ticket. Visitors are advised that most buses in Dalian do not have central heating or air-conditioning. There are, however, three special tourist buses that serve most scenic spots. These have central heating and air conditioning. Prices vary depending on the bus route and distance.

Dalian's public transport network also includes a tram system that adds to the city's character. There are three tram routes: Central Railway Station to Shahekou Railway Station, Xi'an Lu Shopping Area to Heishijiao and beyond via Xinghai Square, and Railway Station route along to Donghai Beach via Russian Street. Most tram fares are RMB 1, but expect to pay RMB 2 on the modern trams that run from Xi'an Lu Shopping Area to Heishijiao and beyond via Xinghai Square.

The city also operates a ''Tourist Loop Line'' bus route. For a fare of RMB 10, visitors can ''hop on, hop off'' the bus at any spot they choose, all day long. The loop encompasses: Dalian Railway Station, the People's Square, the Exhibition and Conference Center, Dalian Sea Shell Museum, Forest Zoo (south gate) , Fujiazhuang, Yanwoling Hunqing Park, Beidaqiao, Niaoyulin, Hutan Leyuan, Gangwan Square , Zhongshan Square  and Dalian Railway Station.

Tourist loop line operational hours:
8:00 am - 6:30 pm (May 1 - Oct 31); 8:00 am - 4:30pm (Nov 1-Apr 30)
