1Mr Burns:

Absolutely excellent article.

Happens all over the world of course - media outlets are always (however smally) biased to some degree or other - but the Chinese media seems to take the biscuit for drumming up nationalistic idiocy. Truth, whole truth and nothing but please; or as near to that as journos can get...

I am American, living in China, and while I also feel the answers focus on the negative perceptions, I do think the negative perceptions of each country listed, ARE what people think, and therefore the survey is fairly accurate, and I think these perceptions would be supported in other countries if the survey was done there. I agree with allot of the country perceptions, and understand that many of my own perceptions are based on ignorance, but ignorance of the masses is one of the largest similarities between China and USA where both are controlled by the media.

Completely agree with you, what everyone should be pushing for is truthfull media in all countries. I come across a lot of Chinese who really have noidea what other countries are like, some of this comes from the media but some comes from schooling. On the one hand we see anti foreign views held by some people here and on the other we see the view that everything in the west is wonderfull, both are equally wrong. It all comes down to education, and for a lot of Chinese the only way they can see the real picture of the world is through the internet with a VPN and an open mind

4eye for an eye :

This is exactly the way that western news and Chinese news reports on black people and Africa.

This is the way that western news reports on China

You have just shown and written the draft; step by step word for word.

Finally the truth comes out, well written piece.

Black people bring big money everyday in China. They patronize China products. They are a big help to the economy of China. Philippines are doing DH job, because they are good in it, Chinese are learning from them how to be clean ,etc. That's why they are hiring them as nanny.

The funniest was when the global times ran an opinion piece about the natives in Canada asking them to bring up human rights during harper's visit. The piece hailed it as the tied turning on human rights and the world's perception of China. It completely went over their heads that the letter was an indirect insult to China and that they were being used.

Quite a good article but if fell short of projecting the views of Chinese against Africans. Any person from Africa visiting China sooner or later comes to terms with the treatment meted to Africans. What the Chinese fail to understand is that MILLIONS of their compatriots are in Africa. While Africans engage in teaching in China, the Chinese indulge in all sort of activities in the continents which might annoy locals if the African medias encourage nationalistic sentiments. A word to a wise is sufficient-Africans are not backward or devils as the average Chinese is made to understand.

12bigger they are:

All counties of a great size and utter reluctance to know anything of the outside world are never going to understand any other country but their own.... Oh wait that is the USA.

All counties of a great size and without a free media are never going to understand any other country but their own... now that is China.

The bigger they are the less they care and the more outsiders take pleasure in their pain.

Wow man....that's like.....deep.

It's been amusing reading this site and reading all the factoids all these America experts pull out of their ass. Americans can't point China or Canada on a map. Can't add 2 2. Are all fat and ignorant, arrogant warmongers that swig down Budweisers and watch NASCAR.
In that spirit, I hereby appoint myself expert of some of the following countries. Pay attention "bigger they are". Your wonderful utopia of a country could be among the following:

Canada: Ice, polar bears, French Quebec "Les Pussies", bad case of USA Little Brother Syndrome, fur trappers

Britain: Not as clever or superior as their accent makes them sound. Soccer and Beckham(zzzzzzZZ...snore) The Sun Tabloid, Buckingham Palace, The 51st state. Hate Americans since they have to follow whatever the USA does, impotent to do anything about it.

Brazil: The friendliest people on Earth. Hot women. I can't really say anything bad about Brazil although I am concerned about the problems in the Amazon. And I hear that the crime has gotten pretty bad since I was there, though I never had any problems.

European Union: Home of the creepiest, most limp-wristed handshakes on Earth. Wine and cheese. Nazis, and more "les pussies", Cows on a mountain tinkling their bells.

Australia: Kangaroos, Koala Bears, Olivia Newton John, Crocodile Dundee, generally cheerful people that also detest their impotence to control "those damn yanks".

Middle East: Oil, camels, sand, terrorists

Asia: They make most of our stuff. Not so mysterious anymore. Shitty drivers.

Hey....this IS fun...pulling things out of my ass. Some of them are even true.... or not.

Bring on the rotten fruit and vegetables!

Why would anyone be surprised? China is flat out on the capitalist road and its media naturally reflects this. The communist[?] party presumably allows a Chinese Murdochs to operate under its tight censorship to feed the people plenty of bullshit just like "The Dirty Digger " does in the west.
Mark my words, seeing as the obnoxious Murdoch is [ at last] on the nose with even his own kind there is a wonderful opportunity to move his empire to China. A win win for him and the oppressive, censorist, communist[?] party.
Here's your first headline for the new "China News of The World", Free Liu Xiaobo!
