A group of female students formed en masse in front of a public restroom in the Yuexiu Park area of Guangzhou on February 19th, holding signs saying "Caring for Women Starts with Using the Restroom" (关爱女性,从方便开始). The women hope to call attention to "wait time inequality" of men's and women's restrooms, and encourage the government to pass legislation to alleviate the "queue for women's public restroom" problem. Not surprisingly, this unusual scene attracted a number of pedestrian onlookers, resulting in a bit of sidewalk congestion, as well as some awkward exchanges by men trying to use the restroom. Apparently, this movement was actually a sort of performance art, called “Occupy Men's Restrooms” – the creator was a local female college student tired of waiting in long lines to use the restroom.
