The Guangzhou Human Resources Market Service Centre (广州市人力资源市场服务中心) recently published the results of their "2011 Guangzhou Domestic Service Industry Salary Price Survey", which includes suggested monthly salaries for low, intermediate and high-grade nannies/yuesao (月嫂). Here is how to determine a nanny’s pay grade, according to the head of the service centre:
- Nannies with more than five years' experience, who are either "intermediate" or "high" certified by the Labour Department will qualify as "high grade", and are able to earn 7,592 RMB per month.
- Nannies with three years' experience, and possession of a work licence issued by the Municipal Housekeepers Association (市家政行业协会) will qualify as "intermediate grade", and are able to earn 5,070 RMB per month.
- Nannies with one year of experience who attended a home management training that year will qualify as "low grade", and are able to earn 2,914 RMB per month.
On the whole, these salaries are lower than the current market going price for nannies.
