Nanjing and its environs are served by four bus companies, namely: Nanjing Traffic Bus Company, Nanjing Yagao Bus Company, Nanjing Zhongbei Bus Company, and Nanjing Xincheng Bus Company. Traveling by bus is cheap and convenient - fares range between RMB 1 and 2, and most bus routes operate from 06:00 - 21:00.
IC cards can be purchased at subway stations, selected supermarkets and banks, and at the bus stations. Using these IC cards, travelers can enjoy more convenient public transport at a reduced rate. IC cards are not transferable from city to city.
