When compared to taking a train from Hangzhou to Nanjing, many frequent travellers between these two cities have realised that riding on the "Hangzhou-Nanjing Express Bus" is a much better option.
More daily trips: The Hangzhou-Nanjing Express Bus has 32 buses departing daily – basically every 20 minutes another bus departs – so it’s much easier, than compared to riding the train, to find a bus that fits into your schedule.
Short trip length: The journey from Hangzhou to Nanjing only takes about 3 hours and 40 minutes, while the high-speed rail takes about 3 hours and 10 minutes. Even though the train is 30 minutes faster than the bus, the bus arrives at the Nanjing Central Bus Station located at 1 Jianning Lu (南京市建宁路1号, 南京中央门汽车站), while the train arrives at Nanjing South Railway Station, far away from the city centre.
Cheaper price: The Hangzhou-Nanjing Express Bus costs 120 RMB. Conversely, the cheapest train ticket you can buy costs 145 RMB for a second-class ticket on a D train (or 176 RMB for first class tickets). High-Speed Rail tickets are even more expensive: 218 RMB for second-class and 344 RMB for first class.
