In order to rent a car in Sanya, non-Chinese visitors will need to produce a valid passport and their tickets for travel out of China, or a valid visa, as well as their driver's license and a deposit, the exact amount of which will vary between companies.
Companies will generally deliver the car directly to their customers and the cars can often be rented in Sanya, but returned to branches in Haikou. Rental can either be arranged by day or by mileage and visitors should be certain they know which they are agreeing too before singing the contract with the rental firm. Prices can vary from RMB300/day to RMB1250/day, depending on the make of car.
