Suzhou Transport - Coach

Suzhou offers regular buses to many cities including Nanjing, Shanghai and other major centers, though some buses may be slightly more expensive then a train to the same destination.

Buses leave for Shanghai every 20 minutes throughout the day, with prices around 26 or 30 RMB. The trip takes about 80 minutes, though this is heavily dependant on traffic. There are also local buses that go all the way to Shanghai, but these stop frequently and are very crowded (but cheap).

There are no 'express' buses to Nanjing, but this is because Suzhou is never a starting point for trips to this destination, it is a stop for buses originating in Wuxi, Changzhou and Zhenjiang. Buses to Nanjing cost 80 RMB, and take about three hours.

Below is a list of Suzhou's long distance bus stations. Although there are a number of popular destinations listed, it is recommended that travelers have a Mandarin speaker call and confirm the departure station of the bus.
