Over 300 new electric taxis will hit the roads in Suzhou in 2012. Interested in going "green"? Here's what you need to know:
1) If you want to ride in an electric taxi, you must call the company to make a reservation; these cabs won't pick up fares off the side of the road.
2) After a passenger has called the dispatch centre to schedule a pick up, the driver cannot refuse the fare.
3) As electric taxis are of a higher quality than normal taxis, their prices are higher too; these taxis start at 15 RMB for the first 3 km, and after that every km costs 2.5 RMB. And if the wait time for passengers exceeds one minute, it will be counted as 0.2 km.
