The “33rd Hanshan Temple New Year's Eve Bell Tolling” event will be held in Suzhou on December 31st. The ringing of the Hangshan Temple bell is one of China's oldest New Year's Eve traditions. The temple will also have other activities available for visitors seeking to purify their hearts, give thanks and wish for a prosperous New Year. Buddhist scripture believes that there are 108 kinds of trouble in life, and that when this bell is tolled 108 times, it will help extol these troubles.
