Ferries run between Xiamen Island and Gulangyu Island costing RMB 8 for a return ticket. The busiest time is during lunch hour (11:30 – 14:30) and the ferries run at 10-20 minute intervals.

Bike rental
Cycling is a great way to get around Xiamen: bikes should cost around RM20/hour to hire and most agencies will ask for a deposit of between RMB300 and RMB500.
